Confused about what the Cerny update really means? Clement clears it up in 4 important ways: how the Rangers will line up for Hampen’s debut

The Belgian’s status update on left some fans feeling discouraged.

Rangers supporters exhaled in unison upon hearing Philippe Clement announce that his Ibrox squad has no new injuries.

However, the Belgian’s status update on Vaclav Cerny left some disappointed.”People can’t expect him to play 90 minutes for now because he has only had six training sessions,” the Rangers manager cautioned. “We will integrate the new players into our team.” The man who set up Cyriel Dessers for the Dynamo Kyiv leveller, according to some Ibrox supporters, will be an impact substitute. But, as they say, the devil is in the details, so Cerny might get 60 crucial minutes on Saturday before starting the second leg on Tuesday night.

Oscar Cortes is hurting in his knee, so Robin Propper might make his Rangers debut. Hamza Igamane isn’t fit for the game, and Nicolas Raskin is out. They also face a Motherwell team that is adjusting to losing eight players. Shane Blaney, Callum Slattery, Sam Nicholson, Ross Callachan, Filip Stuparevic, Harry Paton, and John Koutroumbis are all absent, and Lennon Miller is a question mark.Record Sport examines the lineup that visitors to the national stadium can anticipate.

The Rangers’ changing dressing room isn’t limited to Clement’s squad

This summer, the Rangers are adding new players to their roster beyond just the first team.

After a summer in which eight new players arrived and several experienced players left Ibrox, Philippe Clement is looking to expand his options. Some, according to the managers themselves, aren’t prepared to be featured just yet.

Rangers fans’ expectations and optimism are currently rather low due to the team’s dismal preseason performance and their opening William Hill Premiership draw against Heart of Midlothian the previous weekend. Some people’s spirits have been raised by the late Champions League qualifying first leg comeback against Dynamo Kyiv, but only time will tell how the 2024–25 campaign plays out in the upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, during the off-season, the Auchenhowie Training Centre for Rangers has been renovated. This week, video surfaced showing the player lockers and dressing room benches being covered in brand-new blue material.

Retaining only the large Rangers crest on the wall and adding text reading “1872” (the year the club was founded) and “READY” on the side of the locker units, it gives the Light Blues’ changing area a more modern and understated appearance.

“Great job mate, well done,” another person commented.

A third made a joke, saying, “That’s where the transfer money went.” Getting that job must have created some buzz.”

On Thursday, pictures with the team’s logo outside Hampden Park—where Rangers will play for the foreseeable future—also surfaced.

The Glasgow club agreed to move from Govan to a new location at Ibrox, but the move was put on hold while supply chain delays caused delays in the renovation of the Copland Road stand.

Injury-prone On Saturday, Rangers will host Motherwell, and ground crew is working extra hard to make the arena feel more like home.

Placed above “Welcome to Hampden” signs are big banners with the club crest on either side and the words “Rangers FC” in the middle.

Rangers supporters would say you are winning with this group, but there are now £40 million reasons to feel differently. major match decision

Rangers still have work to do to advance, but everything changes after Dessers’ strike.

In Lublin, two inebriated video assistant referees were fired for stealing a road sign 24 hours prior to the match.

And it seems like Rangers are making progress after a first-leg draw in their Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv.Philippe Clement’s team has a great chance to complete the job at Hampden next week after Cyriel Dessers scored a close-range goal to tie the score at one against Poland. Similar to those two UEFA officials, Rangers entered this game somewhat inebriated following a turbulent summer and a goalless draw at Tynecastle.

However, they made a mental shift at the very end to secure a late equaliser, and fans may now begin to trust Clement when he says he knows where they’re going. All roads now lead to Hampden, not only for Motherwell’s visit to their new temporary home on Saturday, but also for the crucial return match that is at stake. Dynamo appeared to have taken a slim lead in the third qualifying round match thanks to a goal from Andriy Yarmolenko.

But Dessers, who occasionally splits the support, scored a crucial goal to keep them in the running for a possible £40 million European jackpot. The team led by Clement was superior to Kyiv that evening.Earlier in the second half, Dessers was initially denied an equaliser by Ross McCausland, who also struck a post.

Although Rangers still have work to do to advance, Dessers’ goal with the final kick of the game in Lublin could be crucial. For a match of this size, the Arena Lublin had an odd atmosphere. Which makes sense, considering that Dynamo is using it as a temporary residence for European ties because of the conflict at home. There were about 4,000 Ukrainian supporters present, but there was none of the intimidation Rangers might have encountered in a match away from home against a team in Eastern Europe with so much on the line. You got the impression that Clement’s team had a chance to seize control of the match and take the lead.

The manager’s starting lineup would have taken the few hundred Rangers supporters who travelled by surprise. Vaclav Cerny and Robin Propper, the new boys, had to make do with the bench. Ben Davies was naturally replaced by Leon Balogun, but McCausland’s inclusion was shocking because he wasn’t even a substitute against Hearts.

Had you informed fans at the conclusion of the previous campaign that the young Northern Irish player and Scott Wright would be starting wide receivers in a Champions League qualifying match, they would have assumed you were done. However, that is the current state of Clement’s team, and he will have been pleased with how his under-pressure players responded, coming out strong from the start.

Before the tie, everyone was wondering, “How good is this Dynamo Kyiv outfit?”

Yes, they had defeated a subpar Partizan Belgrade team by nine points in the previous round. But how effective would they really be at a neutral venue? Early on Rangers looked the better side, not just on the ball but they also appeared more Euro-savvy than Dynamo.

They had a lot of control over the first half and really ought to have scored. Rather, they entered at the rear and were worried that Kiev would receive more. In fact, Gers had made a threat early on by pressing their opponents in their own half and playing a high line.

Within two minutes, Tom Lawrence had a pot shot, and later McCausland, who had a very sharp right flank, came dangerously close to bagging a beauty. He curled a left-footed shot towards the upper corner after making a deft touch inside his marker. Regretfully, Clement’s attempt ultimately crashed back off a post after surpassing goalie Georgiy Bushchan.

Surely, it hadn’t all been one-way traffic. The Ukrainians left the press when it served no real purpose and started to cause trouble, especially on the Rangers’ left side.

Wright and Ridvan Yilmaz were finding it difficult to contain the seasoned Yarmolenko and the roving full-back Oleksandr Karavayev. Vladyslav Vanat’s header put the ball in the net for Dynamo, but it was called back for offside.

Oleksandr Pikhalonok was denied by Jack Butland with an excellent save, but as the half came to an end, you could sense a home goal was imminent.

It was also not shocking that Yarmolenko, a former West Ham winger, won. While in possession, Yilmaz was mugged, and the ball ended up back on Vanat’s side.

His cross was ideal for the large international player from Ukraine to tap in. Clement was probably incensed at how easily they had given up the first goal.

That forced a change at halftime, with Jefte taking Wright’s place and given the task of supporting Yilmaz. However, he nearly had an instant effect in an offensive sense.

After Jefte crossed the ball, Dessers glanced at the goal before Bushchan deflected it. The Brazilian was making excellent deliveries into the box, which Dynamo was finding difficult to handle. Rangers played it in the other team’s half for the majority of the second half and appeared to be able to tie the score.

At the very end, their persistence paid off when sub Cerny successfully executed a cracking cross and Dessers arrived to leave Dynamo in ruins.

4 Rangers transfer news: Rrahmani’s asking price drops, and Conway bids to sign

Philippe Clement’s side is in Poland for the UCL qualifiers, but the recruitment work continues.

Philippe Clement has already confirmed that one of Rangers’ fringe players will leave this summer.

Ianis Hagi, who played on loan at Alaves last season, has been informed that he is free to find a new club following a discussion between the player, club, and agent. While the Light Blues are in Poland for their Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv, Nils Koppen, the club’s recruitment chief, is likely to be working on the revamp alongside the manager.

Football Scotland highlights the latest transfer news from Ibrox as incomings and outgoings are expected to increase.

Ianis Hagi

Clement announced the Romanian’s departure during his pre-match press conference this evening. “Is he part of my plan? No, we discussed this with his agents before the preseason. We need to look at a lot of things in the club, such as wages, how many players we can put in a position with the budget we have, and how much money we can spend on transfers.

“So, it was very clear to him that the plan was to sell him. “That is what we wanted as well, so that is the clear situation.”

Tommy Conway

The striker was once a Gers target, but it appears that the new Scotland cap will no longer be on the shortlist.

The Bristol City striker is now valued at £5 million, with Hull City and Middlesbrough reportedly looking to sign him if they can raise the funds.

Albion Rahmani

Speaking of increasing the money, the Kosovo striker at Rapid Bucharest has reportedly seen his price drop as the club considers selling this summer.

He was initially valued at close to £6 million, but according to local reports in Romania, that figure has dropped to around £5 million. That may still be a little rich for Gers’ coffers, but it’s a drop in the bucket that Koppen and Clement should consider if they still want to do business.

Todd Cantwell

Another day and another link. This time, it’s a new link to a club that was previously “interested”. According to Football Scotland, Cardiff City is not interested in the midfielder who wants to leave Glasgow.

Ibrox View: Boyd is totally wrong about what Dessers said live on Sky

Kris Boyd, a former Rangers striker, isn’t sure that Lawrence Shankland would be a better replacement for Cyriel Dessers.

Boyd said live on Sky Sports [3 August] that he wasn’t sure if Shankland would be a clear step up from current forward Dessers, who has mixed feelings at Ibrox.

He said, “I don’t know,” when asked if Shankland would be better than Dessers. When it comes to ending, yes. That being said, Rangers can spend £3 million on other parts of their team.

“If he joins Rangers, there will be a lot more counterattacking football, which I don’t think is good for him.” He needs balls in and around the box.

Kris Boyd’s weird Rangers yell

It’s easy to go through a dry spell as a striker. There will always be people who are naturally good at scoring goals, but as we all know, there are a lot of other things that go into it as well.

Lawrence Shankland, on the other hand, does it all the time. Two years in a row, he scored 24 league goals for Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, for a total of 48 goals.

Lawrence Shankland

Rangers target Lawrence Shankland scored 31 goals in all competitions for Hearts last season

Dessers, on the other hand, only got 16. We know that numbers don’t always tell the whole story, but this one passes the eye test.

Dessers waits for the right time to act and then does so. Shankland, on the other hand, is a grafter. Every time there’s a chance, he’s there to challenge and work hard to get every loose ball.

As soon as new transfer news comes out, you can get it FIRST on the Ibrox News WhatsApp channel.

Most importantly, he will make the most of that one big chance that comes his way, which is something Dessers fails to do too often.

A lot of people are guessing about what will happen with him next. Though there will always be people on both sides, it seems inevitable that he’ll be scoring goals like crazy at Ibrox because Rangers’ forwards are so much better than Hearts’.

And to say that he wouldn’t be better than Dessers is just not true.

Ibrox Sources: Major Whittaker update and Rangers working on A-list forward signing

Before the transfer window closes, Rangers are still looking to add a top-tier forward, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gers’ financial problems force them to sell players in order to raise money for possible new contracts.

Every member of the team is up for grabs this summer, and Philippe Clement has been transparent about this.

On Thursday, Robin Propper, who was leaving FC Twente, completed a £2.5 million transfer to become the ninth summer signing for Rangers.

The need for an elite goalscorer to propel his team into title contention has sharpened after the opening day 0-0 draw against Hearts on Saturday, so the Gers are now concentrating their efforts at the other end of the pitch.

From the sales of Sam Lammers and Connor Goldson during this window, the Scottish powerhouses have already received £4 million.

Morgan Whittaker and Lawrence Shankland are being watched by Rangers.

Lawrence Shankland and Morgan Whittaker are two players the Rangers are thinking about signing, but their asking prices are high.

In January of last year, the Gers made an attempt to sign the Plymouth Argyle winger but were turned down.

Football Insider disclosed that Wolves and Brentford are also interested in Whittaker, so Rangers will have competition when attempting to close a deal for him.

As Shankland approaches the last year of his Hearts contract, he is available for a reduced fee.

Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie says Shankland wants to join the Gers, but it’s unclear if the team can afford to make a deal work.
