Rangers get an unexpected £4 million boost in transfers, but there is one catch: Rrahmani and Hannibal signing rules are now in place
As Philippe Clement makes the changes, the clearout at Ibrox gets worse.
Jose Cifuentes is almost ready to move to Aris Thessaloniki, so Rangers will likely sell him in the next 24 hours.
There are reports in Greece that the Scottish Premiership team will still pay the Ecuadorian player’s full salary, even though the club will get a big cheque next summer when the loan deal ends. Cifuentes is set to complete his move to the Super League on Monday. His medical has already been scheduled, and his loan deal to Cruzeiro has been cut short.
He was brought to Ibrox from LAFC for £1.2 million a year ago with Michael Beale’s prediction of big things. He didn’t make an impact in Govan and hasn’t earned a second chance during Philippe Clement’s huge rebuild. According to news reports in Greece, the Rangers will have to pay around £4 million to buy the player after the season-long loan.
Sports 24 says that Aris thinks the Light Blues will pay the 25-year-old’s salary for the next Greek season. It is said that he makes around €1million (£850k).
Coming in, Albion Rrahmani has been linked with a move from Rapid Bucharest to Ibrox. The Romanian team is managed by Neil Lennon, a former Celtic legend. They are already in the middle of their new season and don’t seem eager to sell.
But the club’s owner, Victor Angelescu, said that the Kosovo international would not be able to leave until a good replacement was found. He told the Romanian news outlet Sport, “We are not interested in another striker right now because we already have a striker and Albion is not leaving soon.” Rrahmani might not be leaving for sure, but right now he is not.
“Anything could happen during the transfer window, but we think he’ll stay.” It’s enough for us to strike.
“There is also a new striker on the way, and we’re not interested in getting another one as long as Rrahmani stays.” We are not in advanced talks with Rrahmani about any offers or negotiations that we might accept soon. A lot of good teams were interested in him, but if we didn’t give him, it means we couldn’t agree on the transfer fee. To let Rrahmani leave, a new striker would have to be worked out.
There have also been rumours that Hannibal Mejbri could leave Manchester United for Rangers. Celtic is also said to be interested in him. The 21-year-old doesn’t seem to be in the running for a spot on the first team at Old Trafford, and the English Premier League club wants to get rid of the Tunisian international for good.

The midfielder told the Tunisian newspaper The National that getting a regular starting spot is something he will not settle for in his next move. “As a football player, I just want to play and show myself,” the United outcast said.
“Every player is going to say the same thing. I’m sick of just sitting on the bench and watching other people play. I had a good season at United last year, but I thought I could have had a little more playing time after the Brighton game where I scored.
“As a player, you always want more, so I chose to go to Sevilla on loan.” There, I went through a lot of things. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. However, I believe I have grown and learnt from it. I can feel it around the United players now.”
