Rangers anthem was used to toast Bob MacIntyre’s triumph while Oban Celtic hero was serenaded by foreigners
The 27-year-old, whose devoted backing ignited the celebration, accepted his first victory and appeared extremely distraught.
As Bob MacIntyre won his first PGA Tour title, he was overcome with emotion, and his fans sang along with him, serenading him with a Rangers hit song. In a moment that the 27-year-old will never forget for his career and life, he celebrated his victory on the green with his dad, who took on the role of caddie. His girlfriend also joined in the fun.
He led by four going into the final round of the Canadian Open and defeated Ben Gryphon by one stroke with a final round score of -2 68. His sizable fan base, the majority of whom were expats, cheered him on both before and after the match. A fan group was seen in one video signing “Follow, follow, we will follow Bobby.” “Anywhere, everywhere, we will follow on,” they exclaimed, and gave a hearty applause.
Following his victory, MacIntyre took a selfie holding his award and then restarted the chant. Goose bumps, he stated in response to his first triumph. It’s amazing. I’ve always wanted to make a living playing golf. My goal has always been to become a winner on the PGA Tour. It still amazes me that I completed the bag with my dad. The man has influenced the way I play golf.
“WE WILL FOLLOW BOBBY!”
