Today: Happy birthday to Gordon Strachan, the former Celtic manager!
Happy Birthday to former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan. The ex-Aberdeen, Man Utd and Leeds player turns sixty seven today.
Strachan was once a success at Celtic having won three League Titles in four years at Celtic, as nicely as prevailing two League Cups and 1 Scottish Cup. His teams were extremely successful owing to being properly drilled. However, they have been regularly criticised for being a bit too pragmatic.
During his four years with Celtic, Strachan oversaw 182 games – prevailing 122 of these games. As Celtic boss, Strachan oversaw back-to-back Champions League Last sixteen appearances. He is remembered as a precise Celtic Manager, even at the time he can also have been underappreciated. Given the calamity that was Tony Mowbray’s tenure, there used to be an appreciation for what Strachan achieved, mainly in Europe.
After leaving Celtic, Strachan had spells as supervisor with Middlesbrough and Scotland and now works in the Director of Football role at Dundee.
