The 49ers’ possible ownership of Rangers is apparently being negotiated with Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe in the forefront.

Simon Jordan has given his opinion on the 49ers’ attempt to purchase Rangers from Leeds United.

According to reports, Paraag Marathe, the chairman of United and a major player in the 49ers’ 2023 acquisition of the team, is actively involved in the possible takeover of the Scottish team.

Given his leadership position at 49ers Enterprises, which has expressed interest in growing its football-related impact, his engagement is noteworthy.

“The owners of Leeds United bought a Premier League football club, the original deal was to be involved with a Premier League football club, to buy out (Andrea) Radrizzani on the basis of being a Premier League football club, they probably got a discounted price because they dropped down into the Championship, but they’ve not set up to be a Championship football club.”

With Leeds poised to earn promotion to the Premier League, Jordan thinks a major financial turnaround is necessary to reestablish the team as a top-flight staple.

“Again, that’s a wonderful thing (huge fanbase) and it can’t be diminished, but it’s not the determining factor, ultimately winning on the field and catching up with the others,” Jordan stated.
