Rangers
The 26-year-old and Philippe Clement confirm “negotiations” for the last six months of the deal.
If Rangers want to stay in the Scottish Premiership, Philippe Clement has made it clear that they must be shrewd in the transfer market.
With the Gers going through a shrinking phase under the Belgian manager, the Ibrox team’s dubious spending over the previous three seasons has finally come to a head.
Ianis Hagi, one of the team’s more skilled and long-serving players, was rotting in the reserves due to financial difficulties.
Clement has officially revealed that the player is in the last six months of his current contract after he returned to Rangers colors and gave his best performance of the season in the 3-0 thumping of Aberdeen.
“Negotiations” between Ianis Hagi and Philippe Clement are confirmed.
Rangers started a significant cost-cutting initiative this summer after making it apparent that the team’s prior contract and transfer strategy was unsustainable.
Rangers cut a number of high earners, lowering the salary cost by £6 million annually, and more are anticipated in this and the next window.
Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo are at the top of the list, while Tom Lawrence is also being considered by Turkish Super Lig team Besiktas.
Given that Philippe Clement has confirmed that Ianis Hagi’s contract expires in the summer and that “negotiations” are in the works, it would be possible to free up funds to sign the Romanian.
The announcement follows Hagi’s return to the first team in October after a pay raise in the player’s contract was renegotiated.
“At the end of the season, his contract will expire,” Clement stated.
Negotiations will take place over it, whether it is feasible or not.
“I have no idea what figures Ianis has in mind, nor does the club, so that’s up to them to discuss.”
Rangers’ Ianis Hagi has “put water in the wine.”
In recent months, Ianis Hagi has made a lot of impressions on Rangers supporters.
First of all, the 26-year-old Romanian international demonstrated a great deal of maturity and dedication by applying himself in the face of being demoted to the Rangers B squad and remaining patient while contract disputes were settled.
After years of turbulent turmoil, which began with a cruciate ligament injury in January 2022, he demonstrated a Rangers class that struck a chord with Ibrox supporters in order to remain focused on his football.
Ianis Hagi has demonstrated his ability to breach defenses and create big moments in front of goal, but he also returned to the club and displayed his abilities.
When asked about Hagi’s remarkable comeback to the Rangers first team, Philippe Clement acknowledged that he was happy that everyone had come together to “put water in the wine.”
“Obviously, I’m pleased with his recent performances,” Clement remarked.
I was previously familiar with it. Prior to the season, there was a circumstance that was beyond my control.
“I’m glad that after the club’s discussions, everyone was prepared to add water to the wine, both on his and the club’s end.
“To band together and solve that problem, which has obviously benefited the team.”
