Celtic identify another in-demand attacking midfielder for potential transfer
In the last weeks of the summer transfer season, Celtic is still searching at a number of spots to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Finding a replacement for Matt O’Riley, should he decide to leave the team before the end of August, continues to be a top priority.
Many teams have indicated interest in paying a high price for the midfield player, mainly Atalanta and Brighton, but they haven’t yet reached Celtic’s O’Riley valuation.
In recent weeks, Celtic has been linked to players like Arne Engels, Luke McCowan, and Daniel Gazdag as part of their active succession strategy.
Another player who Celtic has been eyeing for some time has now joined the list of possible replacements.
Celtics “think about moving” Alvyn Sanches.
According to the Scottish Daily Mail, Alvyn Sanches, who is valued at £4.3 million, is now a strong candidate to join the team in the event that O’Riley leaves.
Burnley, Nice, Anderlecht, and Club Bruggges are just a few of the teams keeping tabs on Sanches’s circumstances this summer. He is a man in demand.
It follows reports from June of last year that Celtic had dispatched scouts to watch Sanches many times in Switzerland in 2023 and 2024.
During the FC Luzern vs. Lausanne-Sport Swiss Super League match at Swi…, Samuele Campo of FC Luzern (L) chases Alvyn Sanches of Lausanne (R).
At just 21 years old, Sanches has already played in almost 100 games for Lausanne and is about to make a significant move abroad. This is the ideal time for Celtic to make a bid for a player with so much potential.
He played a lot of football in his early career and, having represented Switzerland at the U21 level, is in a good position to advance and become a senior international.
Without a question, the talent is a player who, like O’Riley, enjoys having an impact on play in the final third. He is not a midfield player who sits.
The connection seems logical, and he seems to be within Celtic’s budget. That means we should keep a careful eye on him over the next two weeks, particularly if we have to say goodbye to our Danish star.
