Following a wave of rumours earlier this week that connected him to a move to Scotland, Renato Tapia has decided not to sign with Celtic this summer.

The defensive midfielder Tapia caught Celtic fans’ attention when rumours circulated on social media and message boards that Brendan Rodgers might recruit him to his team this summer.

According to reports from South American media, the Bhoys were among the choices available to the veteran Peruvian international who was about to become a free agent.

But after leaving Celta Vigo, he intends to remain in Spain.

CD Tapia recently joined Leganes, who were promoted to La Liga. The possibility of a transfer to Celtic was eliminated when they formally announced his arrival earlier on Thursday.

With a two-year contract in hand, the 29-year-old is already participating in training as the Spanish team gets ready for their away game against Osasuna.

This summer, Celtic had their eye on a number of other midfield players, but Tapia stood out because of his unique profile.

There haven’t been many defensive-minded midfield alternatives linked to the Bhoys over

A more attacking alternative is far more likely to join the team in place of Matt O’Riley, who is being actively chased by teams all across Europe this summer.

In the recent past, Arne Engels has been thought to be the most likely player to sign with Celtic in the event that O’Riley decides to leave Glasgow.

The midfielder, who is valued at £9 million, is reportedly interested in wearing the green and white hoops, although he is being courted by other teams, including Rennes in France.

Celtic has to start being more active in the transfer market as a left-back and a centre-back are both, at the very least, required in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Stephen Craigan assesses Celtic’s chances against Rangers to capture the triple crown this year.

Given what they have witnessed thus far this season from Brendan Rodgers’ team, the Celtics supporters will undoubtedly be thrilled.

After a 4-0 thumping of Kilmarnock on the first day, they showed incredible professionalism to defeat Hibs 2-0 at Easter Road.

The victories have impressed the supporters, who believe Brendan Rodgers has discovered an aggressive approach that has captivated the Celtics fan base.

Celtic’s performance has been so outstanding that BBC analyst Stephen Craigan has already predicted whether or not Aaron Rodgers will defeat Rangers to win a treble this season.

Celtic “should” win the triple crown.
Craigan thinks Celtic should win all three trophies this season and achieve their eighth domestic triple in club history, even though it isn’t even September yet.

“You look at the squads they have had, the success they have had, the trophies they have won, and there was a little dip last season,” Craigan said on The Scottish Football Podcast.

It’s true that occasionally they appeared a little odd, and you were concerned about how Brendan would use his magic to make things right.

However, victorious groups and accomplished athletes always seem to find a way, and Celtic has managed to regain some of their lost lustre this year.

“They appear quite competitive for the title. They appear as though they will succeed in winning. To be honest, seeing them from this distance, they ought to win all three awards.

“When you consider that everyone else is marching on while the Rangers are still having trouble finding their footing and becoming consistent—they need to make some signings.”

“However, Celtic appear to be significantly superior to everyone else.”

Although they shouldn’t get too excited just yet, Celtics supporters should be encouraged by how their team is performing so far this season in comparison to last.

Granted, there were extenuating factors, as Rodgers experienced terrible misfortune with injuries in the first few months of his second Celtics contract.

The Celtics manager hasn’t had to deal with that this season, and the club is playing some attacking, fluid football.

Will Celtic manage to capture the Triple Crown? Although the fans may believe otherwise, Brendan Rodgers will undoubtedly downplay the rumours and concentrate on winning each game individually.
