After a £9.5 million deal was reached with Norwich City for the striker.

Adam Idah’s transfer to Celtic has undoubtedly generated some buzz this week.

Some, like John Hartson and Chris Sutton, who were once great Celtics, greeted the news of the deal with open arms.

Ally McCoist, a former striker for Rangers, believes that Idah is benefiting from the move, but he also believes that Celtic overpaid for the international striker. This is quite predictable.

However, McCoist is not alone in believing that Celtic overpaid for the agreement. The Norwich City supporters believe that Celtic has overpaid for Idah as well, although Chris Sutton has refuted their claims.

Sutton discusses the Idah agreement from “a Celtic perspective.”
Chris Sutton, who has ties to both clubs, is in a unique position to discuss the Adam Idah transfer deal from both teams’ points of view. In this article, the former Celtic hero explains why he thinks his former club got a decent deal.

“From a Celtic perspective, that figure isn’t that much for a development player in this day and age,” Sutton remarked to Pink Un.

“Idah still has a lot of potential, even though things at Norwich haven’t gone as planned. Clubs always tend to pay more for potential.”

Supporters of Norwich say the Celtic fee is not “massive.”
I can kind of understand why the Norwich supporters think that spending £8.5 million up front for a marginal player would seem like a big deal, but Sutton insists that, given the current market, that is not a bad amount of money to spend at all.

Sutton went on, “I think with his age and profile, it’s not a massive fee relative to today’s market, but from a Norwich perspective, there will be fans who will be wondering how on earth they’ve managed to get that fee for him.”

Celtic have preferred to have made a smaller payment. However, it is now imperative that you sign him.

Let’s face it, Idah has previously demonstrated that he can perform well while playing for Celtic in crucial matches.

Wearing the Celtic uniform doesn’t wear the Irishman down, as seen by his two penalties against Hibs on his debut and his subsequent two league and Scottish Cup final matches against Rangers.

If we were to pick faults, we could debate whether or not Idah can succeed in the Champions League, but based on his performance in other competitions, I think he will fit right in among Europe’s best.
