There were plenty of talking points during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership debut match against Hearts on Saturday.

Throwing some of Philippe Clement’s new recruits into the Tynecastle cauldron, how would they fare? Quite impressive, when everything is taken into account.

The Rangers manager believed that Connor Barron demonstrated his abilities during a strong first-round competitive debut.Possibly the most notable performer.

Vaclav Cerny, a loanee from Wolfsburg, impressed Clement as well with his ability to adjust to the game when he came off the bench in the second half.

A topic of discussion prior to the game was the possible matchup between Lawrence Shankland and Cyriel Dessers.

The man who may yet replace him in Clement’s starting lineup, if the rumours are to be believed. The current Rangers striker.

Lawrence Shankland of Hearts is still connected to the Rangfers trade.

The rumours that Shankland was moving to Ibrox reappeared in the middle of the week. Although Hearts manager Steven Naismith was quick to downplay them, Chris Sutton is not the only analyst who has heard rumours.

Shortly before kickoff on August 3, Sutton stated on Sky Sports at 12 p.m., “Everything which I am hearing is that Shankland wants the move to Rangers,” reiterating what former Ibrox captain Barry Ferguson had just told the Daily Record.

Additionally, I believe it will be an improvement over the center-forwards they currently have. While I am aware that Dessers scored last season, I believe Shankland to be a more merciless finisher. superior in the final stretch.

“It would be a wise move for him, and I believe he is more trustworthy. He is a fan of the Rangers by all accounts.

Although Shankland was raised in Queens Park, he was born in Glasgow.

The 28-year-old, who is currently among the most prolific goal scorers in British football, won the Golden Boot in addition to the Premiership Player of the Year title last year.

Shankland finished seven goals ahead of James Tavernier and eight ahead of Dessers in the final standings with a total of 24 league goals (31 in all competitions).

Sutton believes that Rangers may need to enter the market once more if they are to challenge Celtic at the top of the table, even though neither player was able to break the deadlock in Edinburgh—Shankland was denied by the outstanding Jack Butland, and Dessers failed once more due to his lack of ruthlessness.

At Tynecastle, Cyriel Dessers draws a blank.

“I find it to be fascinating. He is quite skilled at creating opportunities by maintaining his composure. At the full time, the former Hoops hitman continued, “We know he likes to chop (inside).”

Yet, as a striker, you essentially need to have that composure at that crucial moment—the finishing touch.

And that’s when his deficiencies truly show.

Shankland is reportedly worth approximately £3 million.

Despite their best efforts, Hearts have been unable to secure a new contract for the former Dundee United star. Next summer, his contract will expire. As a result, Hearts’ last opportunity to sell for a high price is now, and there’s a good chance they could leave as a free agent.

At 28, it might also be Shankland’s last opportunity to sign with a team that can both offer European football and compete for awards.

Kenny Miller, an ex-Gers poacher, agrees with Sutton that Shankland would be a better option than the erratic Dessers.
